Thermal control involves testing for resistance to fire, flammability, thermal conductivity, and spark resistance. Test methods are standardized by the relevant regulatory documents and depend on the scope of the test samples. All studies are carried out using special equipment.

Fire resistance

According to modern requirements, tests for resistance to fire can be carried out not only in standard temperature conditions, but also in alternative modes. These include the regime of an external fire, a slowly developing fire, the temperature of the hydrocarbon regime

Thermal conductivity

Thermal conductivity tests show how well the material conducts heat. For testing, equipment is used that allows you to create a stationary heat flow passing through a flat sample with a certain thickness, directed perpendicular to its frontal part. In this case, the thickness of the sample, the temperature of its return faces, and the heat flux density are measured.

Testing for spark resistance involves exposure to samples (materials or products) over a period of time by a continuous series of sparks that do not pass into an arc.
